Nurturing Relationships to Grow Your Business
It's not enough to have a great product and business plan. Here's why customer relationships are the foundation of real business growth.
Hi reader,
Let me tell you about Bob, a small business owner I just made up. Bob thinks he has it all figured out: he has the perfect product for his target audience, a 50-page business plan outlining every possible scenario, and a solid marketing strategy in place.
So, Bob sits back and waits for the sales to come in. And he’s met with…crickets.
What’s missing? Well, Bob's forgotten that business is about building relationships – not just ticking boxes on a checklist.
And that brings us to today's topic.
Today’s advice to grow your business
If you don't nurture your customers, they won’t buy from you.
It’s not enough to get your product in front of the right people. You need to actually talk to them – answer their questions and respond to their needs.
One of the easiest ways to do this is using a CRM, which keeps track of all of your customer information. This might mean sending customers a personalized discount code for their birthday or recommending new products they might be interested in. These small touches go a long way in building strong customer relationships.
Here’s how this will benefit you
You'll generate more revenue without increasing your marketing spend.
When you nurture relationships with your customers, they're more likely to become repeat buyers. They trust you, they know what to expect from you, and they feel valued. This means more sales from your existing customers, without having to spend more on ads or marketing campaigns.
You'll build a positive brand reputation that attracts new customers.
If you go the extra mile for your customers, they'll tell their friends. They'll leave positive reviews online. They'll become your biggest fans. That kind of positive word-of-mouth is incredibly powerful. It builds trust and credibility for your brand, making it much easier to attract new customers.
Your first step
Make a commitment to using your CRM every single day.
If you have a CRM but don't use it regularly, it's time to change that! And if you don't have one yet, I can't recommend it enough.
Start by blocking off time in your schedule each day to use your CRM. Try reaching out to one customer per day, or sending a personalized email to a segment of your audience. Even just 15 minutes a day can make a huge difference. The key is to make it a habit.
If you're not sure where to start or need help finding a CRM that fits your needs, just reply and let me know. I'm happy to point you in the right direction.
Best,
Jono
