Finding (and Keeping) Top Talent

Your website is the first place potential employees go to learn about your company. Is it making a good impression?

Hi reader,

No matter what size your business is, we all can probably agree on one thing: finding and keeping great talent is a challenge that keeps getting harder. Globally, 75% of employers say they're struggling to fill open positions.¹

If you want to start attracting the best and the brightest, you need to use every tool at your disposal. And it all starts with – you guessed it – your website.

Today’s advice to grow your business

Use your website to attract (and retain) better talent.

Your website is the first place a potential employee will go to learn about your company. That means you have about 30 seconds to convince them that your company is somewhere they can see themselves working. And if your website is outdated, confusing, or unprofessional, that's exactly how they'll perceive your company.

This also applies to employee retention. When your team sees a website that accurately reflects a company they’re proud to work for, it reinforces their decision to stay.

Here’s how this will benefit you

Find higher-quality candidates.

When your website does a great job of showing what your company is really like, you'll attract people who are genuinely excited about your values and mission. This means you'll spend less time interviewing people who aren't the right fit, and you'll have a much better chance of finding someone who'll thrive in your work environment.

Build a stronger, more productive team.

A website that highlights the awesome things your company is doing creates a sense of pride and belonging. It makes employees feel like they're part of something special. And when people feel good about their job, they're more likely to show up excited to work and do great things.

Your first step

Add a section to your website highlighting your company culture.

If you want to start small, you can start by incorporating this into your existing "About Us" page. Otherwise, you might want to consider creating a “Careers” page, where you can really go in-depth about your company culture and open positions.

Whatever you decide, make sure it’s clear to visitors what it’s like to work for your company. You need to tell a story about who you are and what you stand for. What makes your company different? What are your values? What kind of people fit in best at your company? The more authentic and transparent you are, the better.

Best,

Jono
