Are You Measuring What Matters Most for Your Business?
KPIs help you track your progress more intentionally and avoid costly mistakes.
Hi reader,
Welcome to this week's edition of Vervology Soapbox, where I share one tip to help you grow your business and two reasons why it works. Let’s get started.
Today’s must-read advice
Use SPECIFIC KPIs to measure your progress.
If you’re like most business owners I talk to, you probably think you have a pretty good grasp on how your business is doing. But gut feelings can only take you so far.
To actually see if your efforts are paying off, you need to track your progress with specific numbers. We call these Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Here’s how this will benefit you
1- KPIs help you set better goals (and actually achieve them).
It's easy to say "I want to grow my business," but KPIs help you get specific. Want to increase website traffic? Boost sales? Improve customer satisfaction? KPIs help you set clear, measurable goals and track your progress, so you can stay motivated and celebrate your wins along the way.
2- KPIs help you avoid costly mistakes.
Think of KPIs as your early warning system. They can alert you to potential problems before they become major issues. Is your customer churn rate increasing? Are your marketing campaigns underperforming? KPIs help you spot these red flags and take action before it's too late.
Your next step
Right now, choose 3-5 KPIs to start tracking.
Don't overthink it. Start by thinking about your biggest goals for the next month or quarter. Once you have those goals in mind, identify 3 to 5 KPIs that will help you measure your progress towards those goals.
If you need some ideas, this is a helpful resource from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
